What Does Kanati Mean?

What We Do

We are your one-stop-shop for habitat needs. Whether you’re looking for a custom habitat plan, general contracting, or implementation of habitat work, we’re here to help. The best part? We specialize in conservation program enrollments to help pay for your vision!

Many consultants will provide you with a cookie-cutter plan with basic management techniques, but not us. We have a professional, certified wildlife biologist that goes much deeper, using scientific research to map out and give step-by-step recommendations for habitat management that accomplishes all your goals

We start with a site visit to see your land first-hand and work with you to determine your short- and long-term goals. We’ll then take what we learned and create a customized habitat plan tailored to your needs and your land based on the goals you want to achieve. No stone is left unturned when it comes to providing you with the resources to make you successful.

We know habitat management takes a lot of work, but with the right team, your habitat projects will be well taken care of. We have the tools to get the job done right, including a tractor, no-till drill, tiller, spreader, and sprayer. We can complete any habitat project your land needs, from prairie restoration to food plots.

We can also give you a bird’s eye view with our state-of-the-art drone. Utilizing drone technology allows us to capture real-time aerial images of your property to fine-tune food plot locations, travel corridors, and bedding cover.

Habitat projects are expensive, but there’s a way to help pay for it! We have nearly 20 years of experience working with different state and federal programs that directly aid a landowner with habitat projects. This means we can also help reduce your out-of-pocket cost with cost-share to partially or fully fund your habitat goals!

NATE

With a lifelong passion for the outdoors, I have been surrounded by nature my entire life. I have been a jack of all trades in my career with experience in land surveying, civil engineering, youth education, guiding hunters for whitetail deer, and most recently, I worked in the conservation field for the past 15 years.

For over 20 years, I have designed conservation projects, worked with landowners to implement conservation and habitat plans, completed boundary surveys, and introduced as many young people as I can to this outdoor lifestyle.

I have also been an archery whitetail guide for the past eight years. With over 20 years of hunting experience, I have learned countless lessons on how to properly design a property to create the best experience, whether it’s hunting or wildlife viewing.

My B.S. in Social Science from St. Cloud State University has led to me presenting at various conferences and events on topics ranging from effective communication to technical presentations on designing conservation practices. I have also had the privilege to work with state and federal legislators in Minnesota and Washington D.C. to lobby for conservation programs aimed at habitat improvements.

One of my greatest joys in life is helping people reach their goals, and it was this passion that led me into consulting. Give me a call to chat about opportunities for you to create a legacy for your friends and family.

JOE

Growing up on a dairy farm in Melrose, MN, like most kids on a dairy farm, I was always looking for ways to get out of milking cows, whether it was fixing tractors or doing field work. This hands-on upbringing helped me through school at St. Cloud Technical College, where I graduated with my degree in automotive repair. When I wasn’t fixing tractors or avoiding milking the cows, my family would go hunting.

We hunted everything: fox, deer, or duck, we hunted it all, we loved nature and the outdoors. It was on one of the last walks I took with my dad, we talked about the beauty of a ripened grain field and the peacefulness of nature. The same winter, he passed away.

The lessons I learned growing up on a farm will stay with me for the rest of my life and present themselves daily in my work as an auto mechanic. I’ve worked my way up from the new kid in the shop to a master level technician with over 25 years experience. I’ve worked the last several years as a lead technician and mentor for technicians beginning their long fulfilling path in the automotive world.

As my children reach hunting age, I want to instill the same lessons and values I was blessed with growing up. I want to make sure the next generation has the same access to the beautiful outdoors I had and the amazing experiences hunting in the great outdoors.

When I found Kanati, I knew they shared my values of sharing the experiences and lessons for generations to come. With my experience working on the farm, a can-do attitude, and work ethic to match, I’ve been able to help Kanati provide exceptional service and implementation making sure our equipment is in tiptop shape and nothing gets in our way or slows us down!
